The incorporation of acrylic functionality into caffeine enables the preparation of a vast array of novel thermoplastics and thermosets. A two‐step derivatization provided a novel caffeine‐containing methacrylate monomer capable of free radical polymerization. Copolymers of 2‐ethylhexyl methacrylate and caffeine methacrylate (CMA) allowed for a systematic study of the effect of covalently bound caffeine on polymer properties. 1H NMR and UV‐vis spectroscopy confirmed caffeine incorporation at 5 and 13 mol %, and SEC revealed the formation of high molecular weight (co)polymers (>40,000 g/mol). CMA incorporation resulted in a multistep degradation profile with initial mass loss closely correlating to caffeine content. Differential scanning calorimetry, rheological, and thermomechanical analysis demonstrated that relatively low levels of CMA increased the glass transition temperature, resulting in higher moduli and elucidating the benefits of incorporating caffeine into polymers. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new gold‐catalyzed tandem cycloisomerization–halogenation reactions of chiral homopropargyl sulfonamides have been developed. Various enantioenriched 3,3‐diiodopyrrolidin‐2‐ols and 3‐fluoropyrrolidin‐2‐ols were obtained in moderate‐to‐good yields with excellent enantio‐ and diastereoselectivity.  相似文献

By tuning the length and rigidity of the spacer of bis(biurea) ligands L, three structural motifs of the A2L3 complexes (A represents anion, here orthophosphate PO43?), namely helicate, mesocate, and mono‐bridged motif, have been assembled by coordination of the ligand to phosphate anion. Crystal structure analysis indicated that in the three complexes, each of the phosphate ions is coordinated by twelve hydrogen bonds from six surrounding urea groups. The anion coordination properties in solution have also been studied. The results further demonstrate the coordination behavior of phosphate ion, which shows strong tendency for coordination saturation and geometrical preference, thus allowing for the assembly of novel anion coordination‐based structures as in transition‐metal complexes.  相似文献

We report herein a practical method for taming Langlois’ reagent CF3SO2Na to generate CuSCF3 by a triphenylphospine‐mediated deoxygenative reduction process. This chemistry highlights a novel utilization of the inherent CF3S skeleton of Langlois’ reagent as a CF3S feedstock under mild conditions. The CuSCF3 intermediate generated by this protocol can react with a wide array of supporting ligands to furnish several air‐stable [LCu(SCF3)] complexes as valuable trifluoromethylthiolating agents. In addition, the CuSCF3 intermediate can be directly employed for the trifluoromethylthiolation of (hetero)aryl iodides with operational simplicity and atomic efficiency.  相似文献

Phosphine-catalyzed highly enantioselective γ-additions of 5H-thiazol-4-ones and 5H-oxazol-4-ones to allenoates have been developed for the first time. With the employment of amino-acid derived bifunctional phosphines, a wide range of substituted 5H-thiazol-4-one and 5H-oxazol-4-one derivatives bearing heteroatom (S or O)-containing tertiary chiral centers were constructed in high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. The reported method provides facile access to enantioenriched tertiary thioethers/alcohols. The mechanism of the γ-addition reaction was investigated by performing DFT calculations, and the hydrogen bonding interactions between the Brønsted acid moiety of the phosphine catalysts and the “CO” unit of the donor molecules were shown to be crucial in asymmetric induction.  相似文献
